How to create professional and appealing audio or video content?

We get these questions a lot, so we decided to write up a tips section to help you out.

Audio

• Make sure you record in a quiet place free from distracting sounds. Honking cars, crying kids, ringing phones decrease the appeal of your performance.
• To have a better impact, always record your songs with background music. Karaoke tracks are a good start.
• Keep microphone away from nose and mouth. Don’t breath into it.
• If you have an audio recording and are interested in converting that to a video, but cannot think of what to make of it, try using still photos with transition effects as your video cue.

Video

• Choose camera location carefully to make sure the focus is only on the performer and the talent. Zoom in if you have to, this will eliminate the surroundings that do not contribute to the video.
• Jerky videos or unwanted camera shakes are really annoying and unprofessional. Place camera on a tripod or on a stable surface.
• Avoid distractions (people walking by, pets running etc) in your video.
• Make sure there is enough light available and avoid bright lights from behind the subject.
• Memorize your lines and lyrics. It does not look professional holding cue cards or pieces of paper during your performance.
• Pay attention to little details like your attire, the background behind you and your surroundings. Make sure they are neat and clean.
• Your video is a representation of who you are. Be natural, calm and in control. The camera is your friend.
• Your video will be viewed globally by all types of audience (critics and fans alike). Strive to do your best.

General

• As a general rule…. Keep it Simple!
• Always rehearse your performance before you record.
• It is okay if you dont succeed in the frst attempt. Record as many times you like and send in your best pick.
• This website is visited by people of different ages, religion, nationalities, gender and cultures. Make sure your performance appeals to as many people as possible.
